We never gave the spiritual side of life a fair hearing.” Page 50 — While floundering about in self-centered fear, while drinking ourselves to holy, numb oblivion, we sat in our corners in the rare moments of lucidity and arrogantly lamented how wrong the world and those in it were. As if we had actual answers to the origin of life. As if we had some effective means of existing in contentment. We judged the world harshly while refusing to ever look in the mirrors that shone the actuality of our lives. We failed at courage for we were completely alone on our unbelief. The steps shone the light. Powerless revealed the truth of our misery and we trudged the path of recovery.
