“We thought well before taking this step making sure we were ready; that we could at last abandon ourselves utterly to Him.” — I found after decades of practice that I am not very good at managing my life, nor the lives of others. I “thought well” on this, reading pages 60-63 each morning for several months. I came to understand I had not one but two major problems, extreme self-centered fear and excessive use of alcohol. I gave up. I surrendered. My life is not mine today, it’s God’s. Step Three was an offering of myself to Him. I pray the Third Step Prayer each morning, first thing.
