“We tried to shape a sane and sound ideal for our future sex life. We subjected each relation to this test—was it selfish or not? We asked God to mold our ideals and help us to live up to them.” Page 69 — All my life I was selfish in my relationships. Fear and old beliefs and habits kept me there. Recovery teaches me a better way, a new way. As I am healed through the work of the steps, my fears fall away. I see more clearly the person God wants me to be and am given the grace to be that person. I’ll never be a saint, but I can, with the help of God and recovery, be a decent human.
