“We were having trouble with personal relationships, we couldn't control our emotional natures, we were a prey to misery and depression, we couldn't make a living, we had a feeling of uselessness, we were full of fear, we were unhappy, we couldn't seem to be of real help to other people…” Page 52 — These “bedevilments” are symptoms and traits of our self-centered fear, especially in active alcoholism, but also in the state known as “dry drunk.” In order to be happy and useful—to recover—we must welcome a new way of thinking and living. And we don’t have the power to change ourselves. We must connect with a higher power and take certain steps. Otherwise, we remain miserable. Otherwise, we will likely drink. Welcome change today. Let go of the you that you were yesterday. Embrace your higher power and the life of spirit. Grow.
