“We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.” Pages 83-84 — Seems to me these two promises are related. In my experience, I feel peace and serenity in direct proportion to how I use my painful past and my hope-filled present experience, carrying the message to others. I have discovered that my happiness is a byproduct of living my purpose and my primary purpose is to stay sober as I help other alcoholics to stay sober. My self-centeredness fades as I focus on others with other-centeredness.
