“We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it… we will…
“We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it… we will see how our experience can benefit others.” Pages 83-84 — I can’t use my mistakes of the past if I “shut the door” on my past, forgetting where I came from. We share our “experience, strength, and hope.” There’s little strength and hope we can transmit to the next suffering alcoholic if we don’t first share our experience, the ugly truth of our ugly pasts, and connect, one drunk to another, on equal footing. “I’ve been where you are,” is our message, and, “I understand your pain,” and, “There is a way out.”
