“What had become of their judgment, their common sense, their will power? Why could they not see that drink meant ruin to them?” Page 107 — Our lives were unmanageable. Alcohol and our selfish outlook on life created unmanageable conditions in our relationships, our jobs, our finances, our homes. Everything and everyone was affected. But some of the unmanageability was also on the inside. We were driven to insanity, unable to discern what was good for ourselves and those around us, and in the brief moments of clarity when we saw rightly, we found ourselves without the power to act rightly. What a mess! Thankfully, there is a better way.
