“What sort of thinking dominates an alcoholic who repeats time after time the desperate experiment of the first drink?” Page 35 — The short answer is insane. Not rational. I drank excessively for a couple decades, having lots of history, and yet, I thought somehow, magically, it would be different net time. My sane thoughts when living our spiritual principles daily are the gift of recovery, contingent on that daily practice. An insane thought: next time will be different. A sane thought: I can never drink safely for it will not be different.
