“When they talked of a God personal to me, who was love, superhuman strength and direction, I became irritated and my mind snapped shut against such a theory.” Page 10 — I do not like to be told how to think or what to think. This is why I abandoned my religion, that and my perception that I’d broken far too many of its tenets and worn out my welcome. I don’t like to go where I don’t feel welcome. So I had to find a welcoming God, a palatable God, a God to whom I could personally relate. Took me a long time, but the journey was worth it. My God is love. My God keeps me fully sober and mostly sane today. I’m grateful.
