“When you discover a prospect for Alcoholics Anonymous, find out all you can about him. If he does not want to stop drinking, don't waste time trying to persuade him.” Page 90 — If an alcoholic isn’t ready to quit drinking, there’s not much chance of current success. They’ll need to experience some more pain, most probably. Sounds a little cruel and heartless but to give them the idea that there is something for them in A.A. when they have no desire to quit drinking may plant fatal false hope. Step One seems to be a requirement for sobriety. Help one; save two. (But only if they are ready.)
