“With all the earnestness at our command, we beg of you to be fearless and thorough from the very start.” Page 58 — Most of us arrive in recovery desperate, miserable, lost. But even in that state, many of us can’t or won’t give ourselves fully to the simple solution. We’ve never been able to depend on anyone or anything, so why would this be different, we think. We continue to try to control our lives, even in recovery. We see but small results in our outlook and how we feel. It doesn’t seem to work. We need to choose. Will we continue trying to live our way or will we try being “fearless and thorough” in working the steps? Choose.
