“You may already have asked yourself why it is that all of us became so very ill from drinking.” Page 20 — Why are alcoholics different from normal people? Why, once we’ve crossed the line into alcoholism, do we find it impossible to control our drinking and our minds and thoughts? Why can’t we simply drink less? Or less often? Why does it seem we are, with our unaided will, absolutely powerless over our actions with respect to alcohol? Many decades after the book was published, we still don’t have the answers. And if we did, so what? The plain facts are that we can’t control our drinking and it screws up every single part of our lives. But the rest of the facts are that there is absolutely a solution. Recovery. Twelve steps. Meetings. Sponsorship. Service to others. The why’s don’t matter a lick. If you’ve had enough pain, join us in the solution.

Help one; save two. Happy Tuesday!
