But the actual or potential alcoholic, with hardly an exception, will be absolutely unable to stop drinking on the basis of self-knowledge.” Page 39 — If you are not alcoholic and want to stop, simply stop. You have no need for recovery or the twelve steps. If you are alcoholic and do not wish to stop, you also have no need of recovery, for recovery works only for those willing and ready to do the work of change. But if you are an alcoholic and wish to stop, welcome. Hope you’ll give the process of our twelve steps an honest try. Life is better, recovered from the insanity of active alcoholism.
