“…we all fall much below this standard [(sober, considerate, and helpful)] many times. But we must try to repair the damage immediately lest we pay the penalty by a spree.” Page 99 — Step Twelve says we practice the principles in all our affairs. Step Ten says we make amends quickly. And Step Eleven gives us the power with which to do this. If we are sober and considerate, and we escape the tendency to focus on ourselves, we can live every day being helpful to others. It takes some work and time to get to this point, but it’s absolutely possible. And the result? A good life, useful and happy.
